Weekly Photo Challenge: Names

sherlock-holmes

For those of us who find solace in fiction, Sherlock Holmes is a very familiar name. I was pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant named after him in the heart of London. Absolutely beautiful!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Path

You start your new year, hoping that you’d write more frequently than you did last year. Unfortunately for me, these resolutions are just that; resolutions.

Even though I did my last challenge quite a while back, I do check out the weekly subscription email I receive quite regularly. This week’s challenge spoke to me, prompted me to come out of hibernation and pick up where I left off on this path. I call this one ‘The Road to Nowhere’, taken in 2013 on my one-day road trip to London.

I close my year with the same resolutions again; to write more, to explore more, to share more. Let’s see if it sticks this time!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Partners

I spotted this pair of Przewalski’s Horses on a safari a few years back. This rare and endangered species is native to central Asia and is just gorgeous. Ignoring the vastness of the lush green grass around them, they found comfort in each other’s closeness; partners for life!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Curve

Tornado

This photo was one of my first ever experiments in light painting and whenever I look at it, I find myself lost in these colorful curves.

Taken using a Nikon D7000 without a tripod using a 105mm macro lens. In response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge.

Weekly Photo Challenge: Pure

Love is, inherently, a pure emotion. One of the purest forms of love is between a human and an animal, as this relationship is not bound by expectations.

This right here is my interpretation of this week’s challenge – the pure bond between a kind lady and a lechwe; enjoy!

Open Roads

Losses and gain
All part of the game
Pleasure, pain
It’s all the same
Life’s worth living
Whatever your name
Happiness, sorrow
You’re to blame
Smile, move on
Let go of the shame
Copters, Ferraris
Shouldn’t be your aim
Follow your dreams
But not the fame
Discover the world
All wild and tame
This open highway
Is yours to claim

Weekly Photo Challenge: Spare

DSC_1850

Spare a thought to the infinite space around us and the rarity of our existence. There is no known extraterrestrial life, intelligent or otherwise; we are but a speck of dust in this ever-expanding cosmos. Never will this thought hit you harder than when you’re flying thousands of feet above sea-level. Perspective changes everything; it humbles you like nothing else can.

These photos were taken while flying over Pakistan, Iran, UAE, Birmingham, and other places I can’t even remember. Enjoy!
