Weekly Photo Challenge: Shadow

Photography is all about lights; introduce a little light from the right angle, and you start to see something totally unexpected. I was playing with some LED lights a few days back and I thought I’d experiment with how lights interact with fruits. Since oranges are translucent and the only fruit readily available then, using them was a natural choice.

Little did I know that this would yield in some interesting shadows enhancing the pulpy texture of the fruit. A slice of orange and some twenty photos later, I got this shot. Hope you like it as much as I do!

Weekly Photo Challenge: Solitude

When you have two kids under the age of six, solitude is a precious commodity. You spend the entire day being a friend, an enemy, a teacher, a doctor and more often than not, a referee; raising kids is no easy job, but I wouldn’t have it any other way.

When the day is finally over and I have tucked my children in for the night, I find nothing more comforting than the pages of a book. Here’s a picture I took tonight to personify my love for the written word. Enjoy!

I spotted this pair of Przewalski’s Horses on a safari a few years back. This rare and endangered species is native to central Asia and is just gorgeous. Ignoring the vastness of the lush green grass around them, they found comfort in each other’s closeness; partners for life!

I tried, belive me, I tried, but I couldn’t resist publishing another response to this week’s Curvy photo challenge. As soon as I thought of this photo, I knew I had to put it out there.

This was taken with a very cheap (but reliable) point-and-shoot camera and is absolutely POSITIVELY of my favourite photos.

I dedicate this post to those who don’t own fancy DSLRs; a camera sure is important to capture good photos but nothing beats the beauty of your vision.

This photo was one of my first ever experiments in light painting and whenever I look at it, I find myself lost in these colorful curves.

Taken using a Nikon D7000 without a tripod using a 105mm macro lens. In response to the Daily Post’s Weekly Photo Challenge.
