Macro frenzy!

After waiting for over 5 years, I managed to acquire an amazing macro lens with 1:1 magnification. It is none other than the Sigma 105mm F2.8. I’ve been playing with it for a few months now and wanted to share some of my recent work.

Enjoy!

A NatGeo-esque World Through Farhan’s Lens

DSC_0476

Ever since I was a child, I have held this fascination of capturing key moments in time, moments that you might wish to relive later on. It was my grand-father and his passion for photography that really got me into it, but over the years, there have been a few people whose photographic excellence has left a huge impact on me. Farhan Tauheed is one such person and I have been inspired by his work since his formative years. It has been an honor witnessing his journey into the pro-photography arena and as an homage to his phenomenal eye, I would like to share some of his most spectacular work.

Before I get into the rest of his mesmerizing portfolio, I’d like to tell you a bit about Farhan. I was one year his senior and his TA back in grad school, but it was only after I left school that I got to know Farhan better. He’s a brilliant individual who loves to travel around the world, capturing awe-inspiring jaw-dropping mind-numbing moments. So far, he has left footprints in the US, Switzerland, Italy, Venice, Morocco, Spain, France, Greece, Maldives, Croatia, Turkey, Sweden, Netherlands, Belgium, and Pakistan. He loves long-exposure shots, has a good eye for street and wildlife photography, and aspires to make a wildlife documentary in Africa someday. Currently, he’s working tirelessly towards his Ph.D., doing inter-disciplinary research in computer science and neuroscience.

A photographer is defined by the gear he uses. Here’s a sneak peek into Farhan’s back-pack:

  • Nikon D90 DSLR Camera
  • Nikon 105mm f2.8 macro lens
  • Tamron 17-50mm f2.8 VC
  • Sigma 10-20mm f4.5
  • Sigma 50-500mm f6.3 IS
  • Tripod and ND400 filter
