Discriminate not!

Why can’t you see
What I can be?
Why let your eyes
Dishonor me?

Don’t let my skin
Dictate my fate
My ugliness
Turn into hate

My accent may
Not be as good
I may not speak
The way I should

Your red passport
May reign supreme
My dark green book
In low esteem

In looks alone
We may not match
But hold that thought
There is a catch

Come close to me
And hear my heart
Could beats alone
Tell us apart?

The pain we feel
When love is lost
Discriminates?
No, it does not!

When fires burn
And ashes blow
The pungent smell
Don’t we well know?

The anguished wails
Of orphaned kids
You hear them too
With wet eyelids

When you bite on
Your tongue in haste
Do you not sense
The metal taste?

So why do you
Build up this wall
Why then, my friend
Make me feel small

Just look beyond
My darkened skin
And see the light
That shines within

When all is done
We are the same
There is no guilt
There is no shame

My nights like yours
Are filled with dreams
Of catching stars
And chasing streams

With this new thought
Let go, be free
And see me for
What I can be!

Open Roads

DSC_3403

Losses and gain
All part of the game
Pleasure, pain
It’s all the same
Life’s worth living
Whatever your name
Happiness, sorrow
You’re to blame
Smile, move on
Let go of the shame
Copters, Ferraris
Shouldn’t be your aim
Follow your dreams
But not the fame
Discover the world
All wild and tame
This open highway
Is yours to claim

This Thing Called ‘Life’

DSC_9553

At times
I just get
Overwhelmed
Thinking
About things
That I have yet
To accomplish
Driving me to
The verge of
Tears

“Get over it”,
I tell myself,
“Life’s short;
Prioritize,
Persevere,
Perspire,
Just push it
And make
Every second
Count”

Words of Wisdom: Price-tag

Dreams are free; it’s reality that puts a price-tag on everything.

Heavenly Love

God made you just for me
Sent you from the heavens above
For me to hold you by your hand
For me to cherish and to love

It don’t matter where I see
Nor does it matter what I do
Every little thing around me
Keeps reminding me of you

Your voice is sheer magic
It just drives me insane
Sends tingles all over my body
A wave of bitter-sweet pain

My being, my existence
Was devoid of a soul
You pulled me back to life
Completed me, made me whole

You know just what to do
To set my heart on fire
You always say the right words
Cheer me up, lift me higher

Don’t wanna leave your side
Even if it’s for an instant
An inch apart feels like miles
A second, a million moments

If you don’t really exist
And it’s all but a dream
I never want to wake up
From this slumber so serene
