This year’s Middle East Film and Comic Convention (MEFCC, in short) had a star-studded line-up of celebrities and experts from the comic industry. People actually queued up and paid to get autographs or selfies with their favourites. On the other hand, media representatives, including yours truly, had an exclusive interactive session with all these people. Here are a few shots from the event!
The list featured heavyweights including:
- Nikolaj Coster-Waldau (I didn’t know who he was till I met him; I don’t watch the show – Game of Thrones / Jamie Lannister ring any bells?)
- Christopher Lloyd (Back to the future)
- Randy Orton (WWE)
- Summer Glau (Firefly, Terminator: Sarah Connor)
- Nick Frost (Shaun of the dead)
- Veronica Taylor (voice artist extraordinaire – April from Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles)
- Max Landis (Victor Frankenstein)
- Darryl McDaniels (a.k.a. Run DMC)
- Stan Lee (last, but certainly not the least, who made an appearance over a live video stream – creator of Spider-Man, the Hulk, the Fantastic Four, Iron Man, Thor, the X-Men)
Here are a few shots from the event. Enjoy!
Jackie here, thanks for coming by my blog, your photo’s are outstanding and sharing them with me as I am not able to travel means the world to me. Bless your heart.
It’s a really good thing to connect with like-minded people and see the world through their eyes. Thank you for the appreciation and encouragement. Best wishes, Jackie!
Total legends!! I really love the photos of Summer Glau, they capture her personality so well 🙂 I was so gutted when Firefly was cancelled! So I know you’re an avid reader and thought you’d probably read the Game of Thrones books but have you not seen the show at all? It’s got to be the best televised/filmed adaptation of a book series that I’ve seen! I do wish Terry Brooks Shannara Chronicles had been made as well.
Sarah – Firefly was the best show EVER. I have yet to start reading the GoT books, and I think Shannara is already a TV series by MTV. 🙂
Wasn’t it just?!? I have it all on dvd still 🙂 The GoT books are fantastic! I read the existing ones ages ago and am now one the frustrated readers waiting for the next written installment. Yes, we saw the first series of Shannara which was shown on 5* in the UK but it’s not been done anywhere near as well as GoT sadly 😦 I’m actually reading Brooks very latest book at the moment which is brilliant as ever 😀
And which book is that? 🙂
He’s onto the Defenders of Shannara series and the latest book is called The Sorcerer’s Daughter 😀
I’ll put that on my reading list.
Start at the beginning of the series! Should be easy enough to find. Absolutely brilliant 🙂 He’s also done several series that fill in the time between The Word And The Void and the first Shannara books. Genesis, Legends and Paladins of Shannara! This is the chronology https://www.goodreads.com/series/43574-shannara-chronological-order
Thank you for the recommendation. Have you ever read any Brandon Sanderson? I’ve heard he’s really good.
Yes and yes he is!! His Mistborn series is a favourite of mine and he finished writing the Wheel of Time series by Robert Jordan which is another extraordinary epic https://www.goodreads.com/series/41526-the-wheel-of-time
I actually attended a Fantasy Writing workshop by him at the Emirates Airlines Festival of Literature in March; pretty amazing. I have his photos in one of the posts too. 🙂
Awesome!! I had never heard of their festival of literature but it looks amazing from your posts 🙂
Great shots! Those kind of shots are the hardest for me. You captured some great e
Oops –/expressions. BTW, before I accidentally press enter again, thanks for following my blog. I’m enjoying yours, too. 😀
Thank you. They are hard for me too, particularly when the subject is far and the lighting is poor. 😉
Yes! My problems exactly! What kind of a lens are you using, and what about lighting????!
I’m using a, kit lens for now (18 to 105mm) but planning to buy either a 105mm macro or 85mm for portraits. Much sharper than the one I currently have. Also, bump up the ISO a bit to get brighter photos.
What kind of camera?
Nikon D7100. What about you?
Canon rebel EOS Xti about 6 yrs old or so. Tameron lens 18-270.
Still experimenting and learning. 😉
Thank you for sharing the list! I also enjoyed reading the exchanges between you and Sarah. 🙂
It’s such a great feeling to meet someone who lets out the geej in you! 🙂
